Marion, Iowa – Epiphany, a Corridor public relations and marketing firm, announced today that their spark team leader, Christa Nelson, has been nominated and chosen for KCRG’s 9 Who Care Award.
“Christa dedicates a substantial amount of time and talent to help nonprofits achieve their missions. Beyond offering a low hourly rate to nonprofit organizations, her firm selects several nonprofits to routinely receive donated services. She also is very passionate about personally serving in her community.” Says Dr. Mollie Marti, CEO of the National Resilience Institute, and the nominator for Nelson.
The 9 Who Care Award recieves candidate nominations through the entire month of November, but is only given to nine winners, who are then featured on a KCRG broadcast. Of those nine original winners, a finalist will be chosen by a panel of judges to go on a trip to Washington, D.C. to represent Eastern Iowa in a national race for a Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award.
“I am humbled and honored to be nominated and so thankful for my thoughtful clients like Mollie. It is the work they do that inspires me each day.” says Nelson. “I am literally living the dream, waking up everyday doing work that I love for organizations that I am passionate about with people I enjoy! What more could a girl ask for?”
Her nominator shared that Christa has always been an advocate for nonprofits, passionate about giving back to her community through the donation of her time, creative talents, and treasures. To accentuate this, for her fiftieth birthday she decided to launch the 50 weeks campaign – dedicating each week to giving back, acts of kindness and helping one of five nonprofits up until her fiftieth. This campaign is all about helping out and giving back, shows the welcoming and caring spirit that allowed for her nomination for the 9 Who Care.
As one of the chosen 9 Who Care, Nelson and the other recipients will be honored at a reception on February 15th, at the Hotel Kirkwood. The honorees are also awarded a monetary prize that can be designated to a nonprofit of the recipients choosing. Nelson announced last week that the National Resilience Institute would be her organization of choice to receive the funds. Stating the work that NRI is doing to build resilience is invaluable and much deserving of the donation.
