Anna Patty selected for Marion Leadership in Action
,Marion, Iowa – Anna Patty, co-owner of Epiphany, was selected to the Marion Leadership in Action (MLIA) class of 2018-19. Anna is one of fifteen community and business members who want to strengthen their leadership skills and put them to use in the community of Marion.
“Anna is a servant leader who isn’t afraid to follow her dreams and a build a legacy for other women and girls who want to use their gifts and talents to change the world for good,” says Christa Nelson, co-owner of Epiphany. “She is generous with her knowledge and passionate about helping others succeed. She brings over a decade of nonprofit experience, to which she calls upon when passionately serving our clients and community. As an alumni of the MLIA program, I can tell you she represents what leadership in action stands for.”
MLIA is a Professional Development and Engagement series consisting of 10 half-day sessions from September through May and includes leadership assessments, one-on-one meetings with local government officials, curriculum-based training, hands-on developmental experiences, networking and volunteering. The sessions cover everything from Marion’s history and culture to economic and community development. Since the program’s inception, the classes have taken on some sort of fundraising campaign to help the community of Marion in some way.
Marion Chamber of Commerce President Jill Ackerman states, “We created Marion Leadership in Acton to create a bench of strong leaders for Marion’s future. I am excited to welcome Anna and the other members of the 2018-19 class and look forward to watching them grow in our community.”
A native Iowan, Anna sees this community as home and a great place to live, work and serve. She is excited to join the MLIA class of 2018-19 to learn even more about the community and what it offers. Anna shares, “I am honored to be in the company of so many outstanding women and men doing great work in our community. We can each do our part in using our gifts and talents to support our neighbors.”
In January 2018 Anna bravely stepped away from a full-time career in the nonprofit community to join Christa Nelson in starting their own marketing business in a state where women-owned businesses are growing, but still few and far between. As leaders in this community, Anna and Christa want to help those needing a strategic, tactical marketing experience so they too can grow their dreams. Opening a new business is a stretch for anyone, but Anna and her husband Sean are also raising four very energetic kids aged 10 and under.
Since launching in January 2018, Epiphany has quickly become the local marketing firm to watch. Owners, Christa and Anna have a keen interest in helping local companies and nonprofits achieve success. The growing agency, offices out of the MEDCO Loft Coworking space. The space has enable the firm, which provides a full-range of marketing services, including strategic planning and fundraising, brand identity, digital marketing and web design, social media and media relations, to grow and expand.

Anna Patty holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa with degrees in Journalism and Spanish. She previously served as Communications Manager at Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services. Anna currently serves on the board of Family Promise of Linn County and is past chair and board member of the Women’s Equality Coalition of Linn County. Anna is a 2018 Forty Under 40 Award Honoree and a member of the 2018-19 Marion Leadership in Action class. Anna and her husband, Sean, live in Cedar Rapids, and are the proud parents of four very energetic kiddos.
